The start of school is a significant transition for pupils as they enter a new system with new demands, expectations and rules. Some children first need to learn appropriate ways of behaving, which can present a challenge for teachers. In our project KINO – Klassenzimmer: Interaktionen in einer neuen Ordnung (Classroom: Interactions in a New Order), we investigate how teachers and pupils perceive school order and how they jointly create and shape it in everyday classroom practice. With the results of our project, we want to support teachers in designing a child-friendly and solution-oriented classroom order.

We are accompanying first-grade classes at primary schools for a total of three school years and are recording classroom order from an interactionist perspective through classroom observations and interviews.
