Study design
Our projekt KINO – Klassenzimmer: Interaktionen in einer neuen Ordnung (Classroom: Interactions in a New Order) pursues a multi-method approach. Using classroom observations, semi-structured interviews and short surveys, longitudinal data is collected at primary schools from the first to the third school year. In a panel design, data from the same classes is measured in three waves per school year in order to interpret different trajectories.
Interactionist and organisational sociological approaches are used to analyse order in the classroom. School order is not understood as a secure achievement, but as a continuously established and negotiated social arrangement within social contexts, characterised by routines, rules, expectations and situational negotiations (Schuchart & Bühler-Niederberger, 2022) .
